Republicans, Wine and Conventions

Having your wine served at a White House event is without a doubt, among the high points for either a winery or a wine of the month club.  When McCain and Palin lost the election to Obama, there were certainly more than a few unhappy Arizona wineries which would have likely benefited greatly by having their Senator in the White House.

The question really becomes, what happened?

Looking back at the events of 2008, I wonder if McCain and Palin really lost the election not because of a blow back against George Bush, but instead because the Republican ticket couldn’t get the wealthy comfortable enough with them.

If you’re an investment banker in Santa Monica-were McCain and Palin a ticket that you felt comfortable writing a check for the maximium individual contribution of $2,500?

Did those people feel strongly enough about the differences in candidates to oppose such a historic election run?
