Learning from the Past to Change our Future

The GOP convention of 2008 is interesting to look at in hind sight of today’s economy. In this article we will examine some of the talking points we would have like seen handled. By revisiting the past we can hopefully change the future and ensure upcoming conventions resolve our economic problems. The first economic issue that did not seem to get a lot of attention was the mortgage industry.

While it is easy to say why someone didn’t say anything about the mortgage crisis there were a few. Ron Paul warned the Republican Party several times about its impeding doom. However, like most people who are willing to speak out he was ignored. This simple ignorance leads to the economic conditions that we are now experiencing. In my example I spoke about the mortgage industry. Currently in my home state the St George real estate market has been heavily hit.

As we look forward to this year’s convention it is important to think about the issues candidates are ignoring. Ask yourself as you think about voting what issue did my candidate ignore that might lead to further economic downturn?  It has never been more important to examine not just what a candidate speaks about but what he doesn’t speak about.
